Spirulina

Spirulina is a type of microalgae that has been consumed for centuries in various civilisations due to its nutritional value.  It has a high content of minerals, vitamins, protein and powerful antioxidants.

The Aztecs harvested Spirulina from Lake Texcoco in central Mexico, and it is still harvested from Lake Chad in west-central Africa and turned into dry cakes.

Our Spirulina is grown in Europe; free from any  additives and contains only 100% pure spirulina certified organic.

Spirulina powder is suitable for both adults and children (in recommended dosages).

It is because Spirulina is rich in nutritional elements that it is advisable to take it in moderation

There is no precise therapeutic dosage. But starting with 1 g per day the first week and 3 g thereafter these doses are suitable for most, young and adults.

Add a dash of spirulina to smoothies, juices, dressings, almond milk, chocolate, omelette, broccoli, pesto – there are thousands  of options to explore.

Nutrition

Spirulina is rich in nutrients, some of which are not found in the standard daily meal. It contains significant amounts of calcium, niacin, potassium, magnesium, B vitamins and iron. It also has essential amino acids. In fact, protein makes up about 60 to 70 percent of Spirulina's dry weight.

It is also a excellent source of beta-carotene and minerals. It may boost the immune system and improve kidney and liver function.  Its nutritional qualities are so hight that even the NASA proposed to grow it in space as food substitue for astronauts.
