What we believe in - Vision & Values

“I'm interested in the future (…) because that's where I intend to spend the next few years.” Woody Allen.

Today’s debate on the environment challenge focuses on the relation between humans and nature. On one side stands human activity and on the other side stands the planet. The challenge would be finding the best balance between both. This is the ground principle of the ecological footprint concept and earth overshoot day.

This principle considers the planet as a capacity reservoir in which we have to withdraw the right quantity of resources. This rather positivist concept seems even contrary to the very principle of nature respect and is typically a western vision of the world. We at Naturavox are convinced that we should take a different stance.

We believe the problem is not so much quantitative but qualitative. Which means what type of relationship we want between humanity and the rest of the biosphere.  It is not a matter of feeding humanity through a more moderate puncture of resources but feeding by a different use of resources.

In other societies, those of the first people for example, this dichotomy does not exist. Plants, animals and human beings are part of the global sphere and earth is a living element of which we are part of.

Even the concept of nature is an invention of the West. Many so-called primitive societies invite us to such an overtaking and they never thought that the borders of humanity stopped at the doors of the human species. On the contrary, they never hesitate to invite in the concert of their social life the most modest plants, the most insignificant animals.

We fully subscribe to that vision of life.

For us, the planet is not a "resource" in which one should draw the right amount of raw material so that the cycle recurs. The planet is part of us and we are part of it. Reconciling mankind with Nature should be our common objective.

At Naturavox we all share common values. They are our DNA paving our way towards the fulfillment of our mission. It can be summed up as follows :

  • we care for humans and the planet

  • We do believe it is possible to live in harmony with ourselves and with all living species on earth.
